About PDForge
Built for people who just want to get things done — fast, free, and privately.
Your files never leave your device
Every single tool on PDForge processes your files entirely in your browser using WebAssembly and modern JavaScript APIs. Nothing is uploaded to any server — ever. Your documents stay 100% on your machine. We use open-source libraries like pdf-lib, PDF.js, and Tesseract.js to handle all processing right in the browser tab. When you're done, the data is cleared from memory — no traces left behind.
Free. No tricks.
No free trial. No file size limits hidden behind a paywall. No account required. No email signups. PDForge is and will always be free for everyday use. We support the service through unobtrusive ads and believe that basic PDF tools — merging, splitting, compressing, converting — should be accessible to everyone without reaching for their wallet.
22 powerful tools
From merging, splitting, and compressing to converting, rotating, watermarking, annotating, adding page numbers, OCR, redacting, cropping, signing, unlocking, and more — PDForge now offers 22 free tools covering virtually every PDF and document need. Each tool is designed with a clean, focused interface that gets out of your way so you can get things done fast.
How it works
When you upload a file to any PDForge tool, the file is read into your browser's memory using the HTML5 File API. Processing libraries compiled to WebAssembly (WASM) or plain JavaScript then manipulate the file — pages are merged, images are compressed, text is extracted — all without a single byte traveling over the network. The result is offered as a downloadable file. This architecture means we can offer instant processing with zero server costs, and you get complete privacy.
Why we built this
Most PDF tools online are bloated, slow, cluttered with ads, or demand your email before they'll help you. Many claim to be "free" but cap file sizes or require paid subscriptions after a trial. Others upload your sensitive documents to cloud servers you don't control. We built PDForge to be the opposite — instant, private, and no-nonsense. Open a tool, use it, download, done. No accounts, no uploads, no limits.
What's next
We're actively building more tools and improving existing ones. Upcoming additions include a PDF editor, form filler, batch processing, and comparison tools. We're also working on Progressive Web App (PWA) enhancements so PDForge works seamlessly offline. Have a tool idea? Let us know — we build what our users need.
